Christmas 2012

Christmas 2012

From Psalm 126

"Those that sow in tears
will reap rejoicing.

Although they go forth weeping,
carrying the seed to be sown,
they shall come back rejoicing,
carrying their sheaves."

It is just so, to sow in the certainty of a real harvest, even amidst a thousand difficulties, is the best hope.  In this very difficult moment we are living in the world and in our country, we must hope above all that there be water for our fields, because without it the crop will not grow.  We need a ‘new water,’ also from those who govern our country, as also a new ‘spring’, to allow those who are suffering at this moment – yet continue to sow while suffering – to hope for the water that will allow the crop to grow and will bear new fruit, new places of work.

All of us here at Sophia, students, student-workers, professors, friends, are greatly fortunate because we are together and can share many proactive moments and look to the future.  But, at the same time, we have a great responsibility which is that of being ourselves ‘new life’, through that living water that comes from Heaven and falls on crops sown in pain, making them fertile.  These drops, coming from heaven are full of Holy Spirit, and upon touching the earth they will bring new hope; the certainty that the crop will grow even better and will bring about un-hoped for fruit.

That the star arriving over Bethlehem be our guide and brighten our way bringing us to tasting and enjoying the ‘real water’, the birth of Jesus.
