Genfest 2012 – Let’s bridge

31 agosto 2012 - 02 settembre 2012

Budapest, 31 August - 2 September 2012

An international event where thousands of youth will meet together to show universal brotherhood and a united world are ideals that make life worth living.

Born from a prophetic intuition of Chiara Lubich, founder of the Focolare Movement, the 10th edition of the Genfest will take place at Budapest (Hungary) and will gather youth from all over the world, from various cultures and ethnic groups, all moved by the same idea - not only an experience of life but also a program of social action: unity.
Unity between peoples, cultures and different extracts of society; between different generations, families, groups and movements; Christians of various denominations and faithful of other religions.

“Let’s bridge” is the title of the Genfest 2012. From 31 August to 2 September 2012 the SportArena in Budapest (12.500 places) and the bridges that tower over the Danube will be the main locations for meetings, displays and shows, organized by over 3,000 volunteers who have been working for months. Participants will face different issues: economics and art, politics and social issues, dialogue among different faiths, ecology and communication.

The Genfest, in fact, is also a chance to exchange ideas, a place where activities, projects and initiatives are shared, like “Project Africa” supported for decades by the Youth for a United World (Y4UW). Because each person is a protagonist of his and her own history and of the History. Each one can contribute to the breakdown of barriers, indifference, prejudices and egoism.
